Hi All.
Made a short trip over to ortley Beach this morning between honey do's and found a lot of bait close to shore. There was a huge pod of what looked like bunker off Lavellette with blues crashing all over the surface. Plus saw bunker less than 100 yards off the shore in a number of new holes in Ortley. There were swirls and fish backs rolling on the surface, ans the birds had a hard time figuring out where to dive first.
If you venture out make sure you have both clams and bunker for bait. If you use lures surface poppers with teasers looks like a killer combo at least for today. There were no anglers on the beach when I was there, but there should of been, it looked perfect as the outer bar was accessible with waders and the table bars were plainly visable with all the cuts in plain sight.
It seemed like the incoming tide was the key, so plan accordingly.
Happy Catching
