OC/Strathmere report, 5/29 into 5/30
« on: May 31, 2009, 09:04:48 PM »
One of my jobs had me lifeguarding in Stone Harbor this past saturday, so I figured I would take advantage of being down the shore and headed down friday after I finished some work for the same company. Picked up JR around 1030ish and we headed out. Rob came down from LBI, guess he was lonely tongue got lost in OC and we had to go find him. We headed down to CISP and hit one of the bridges, there was herring and little dinky bluefish popping under the lights so we jigged some up. After we got 10 herring and a few bluefish we packed it up and decided to head for the beach with all the bait we had. Friggin stringer mustve weighed 15 pounds...

Hit fingers' grandpa's honey hole in Strathmere, put out some clams and bunker and herring. 5 minutes later one of us hooked into a fish, once again the doggies were in thick. It was nonstop for most of the night. Rob hooked into something that was definitely not a doggie but it spit the hook on him, of course it was when we all cracked open beers and took a smoke break. I hear OH S*** and F*** out of Rob's mouth so much.... New yorker... lol!

after that, rob hooked into another big fish that ran him down the beach, and beached this big girl.

The doggies were fun but not what we wanted. Wind was right, water was right but no stripers.

We headed north to another inlet, didnt even bother fishing there. Headed back south, tried another bridge with no luck. Headed back to the beach, waded to the outer bar at slack tide and JR hooked another doggie on clam and that was it.

After that I dropped JR off and headed to work.... lifeguarding a retirement community = straight chillin at the pool and gettin paid 10 bucks an hour....

after work I ran back from stone harbor and grabbed JR again, we went to a friend's and I dove his lagoon to see if I could find his dock box that disappeared... No luck...

Headed back out to the bridge again and jigged up a few more herring and blues, not as many as friday night. I hooked into a big 15" herring that put up a real good fight. Watched some other guys filling a plastic bag with tons of herring, way over their limit.

Headed to another bridge to try some livelining and dropping herring. I got way too tired to stay and headed home. Great weekend, just no bass
Young and love fishing...

Willing to do weekend work on a boat spring/summer 09 fishing season... have references!
