Fished very close to port this evening. Even with wind against tide for the first 3 hours we managed to put together a catch. First drift was by far the best as 7 keepers came over the rail. I had my first of 2 keepers within 5 minutes. Unfortunately Jason caught a a short just seconds before to win the $1. MY fish came on a clouser tipped with spearing that was used as a trailer behind a Spro.
Second drift I went to a lighter Spro tipped with a GULP swimming minnow and a GULP shrimp on a standout hook as a teaser. Had a fish on the first 7 out of 8 cast. 5 shorts, 1 sea robin and dropped a fish that had some weight to it.
Alternated from there on out between a Spro with a trailer to a Spro with a teaser. I ended up with 2 keepers and lost count of the number of shorts. Jason caught all shorts and sea robins.
Boat ended with I think 15 keepers.
