Fluke tournaments

was discussing with a friend of mine last week about fluke tournaments and the honesty of the entrants,talking about a local tournament that is no longer,told me they had a person who was winning every year and suspected a fish thawed from out of the freezer.also speaking to another person it's possible to get fish from draggers,was told they drag up some pretty big fish off shore deep water.some of the bigger tournaments offer some very large cash prizes.just wondering what others opinions are on this.       Kez

I have also heard of guys getting big fish from draggers for tournments, but I think for the most part guys are in it for the fun.  I'm sure there are some ...holes out there. Lets hope they stay home and let the guys who do it for the fun of it win whatever the prize is.  And thats my 2 cents.

Had a friend of mine who knew some commercial guys , I won't mention where but he told me for 1/2 the prize money they would give them their largest fish. That was a while ago.
For the most part most participants are in it for the sport and competition.

that is the same thing I heard,a cut of the prize money.

I'm sceptical about these tournament too.Briefly:
Some years back,fishing a two day  tournamant, I weighed in a WeakFish at 13lbs 6 0z.at a local bait and tackle  in N.J. after the first day.Only to find out some body in Maryland/Virginia area took "the big money" with a 13 8oz.the second day.That was before cell phone cameras,heavy internet, and all the technical info we have now used for verification.
Not too many people would say they saw that other fish.        Dispute all you want.
Most all tournaments are run right,this one was questionable.

I think most tournaments and their participants are fair.  I guess when there is a lot of money involved, there is always the possibility of someone cheating.  I think the tournament directors of these bigger cash prize tournaments have better rules and monitoring in place.

You have to put it in perspective too...most of the participants are honest and there for fun.  However, there are some that enter and are complete jerks...these are the same people who drive their boats like idiots!
