Raritan Bay Fluking 6/16
« on: June 16, 2009, 05:52:09 PM »
hit the open bay this morning with fishing buddies Dave and John around 7,marine forcast called for east winds 5 to 10 and waves 1 foot or less,it was blowing a little harder than that and a good chop on the bay with white caps, thought I was fishing in October, with the cool temperature and no sun.when the tide changed to the incoming with the east wind was able to get a good drift, was able to stay in some long drifts and pick away at some fish, picked away all day but unable to put any keepers in the box,a lot of 17 3/4 inch fluke caught.still everyone enjoyed the day because we didn't lack for action.seemed strange not seeing the boats lined up going up the Reach on the NY side with their fluke season closed.I'd like to know when are we going to get some nice warm sunny summer days to enjoy out on the water, haven't fished to many days in my shirt sleeves this year.will try again later in the week weather permitting.      Kez

I've been wondering what's wrong with this weather too.  Nice try with some poor conditions.  I was thinking of giving it a try tomorrow, but I'll probably wait a few days for this east wind to go away.
