Raritan Bay Fluking 6/19
« on: June 19, 2009, 08:08:23 PM »
launched out of Sayreville around 8 this morning with fishing buddy John.before leaving the ramp gave Salty Dog a shout on the cell phone, had exchanged cell numbers via pm.he was on the Keyport Flats since 6:30 and had a good bite going,I believe he said 4 in the box, told him going to make a few quick drifts in the back and run up to meet him, first drift in the back I pick up a 19 incher, miss one and John misses one.moved up to the flats and met Salty Dog and talked for a few minutes, great putting a face to another name on the board.so we set up fishing that area around the 1 can.started with some action with shorts and sea robins, pulled in some hefty sea robins.then the little bite we had stopped dead, moved over to the Reach Channel only able to pick one more bird.moved back to the flats, nothing, the triangle, the lighthouse, train bridge, river, not one bite all afternoon,it was nice fishing with the sun out and in shirt sleeves for one of the few times in the last few weeks.finally gave up and headed in at 4:30.heard from Salty when he told me he was moving over by Keansburg and didn't hear from him again, gave a shout later with our intentions,no answer, thought maybe he had a secret spot keeping to himself ;D called him after I got home, found out he was home and in his living room at 12:30,the bite stopped for him also and he packed it in and went home.     Kez

the tuff fishing can be do to all the rain.. fresh water runoff.. A few days of good weather and tide changes should start things back up.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

Yea,Kez it was fun catching up with you two.Didn't think that there would be much of a bite after the rain, but again,I was proved wrong. We used gulp teaser's and had fish on from the size of small winter flounder,up 19.5".The bite was early.Bite droped off by 10:00.Hope to see you on Tuesday, looks iffy at this time.Wound up with 6 in the box. chrz
