Mudhole & Bunny Hop
« on: June 28, 2009, 09:30:19 AM »
Anyone know an area called the Bunny Hop out by the mudhole? NJ Angler magazine had article about dolphin fishing but didn't give exact location. Any have GS settings?
Thanks,
Dave

I have never heard of the bunny hop but if you are looking for mahi mahi there are many fish/lobster pots all over the mud hole you can check out.

The oil wreck may be the closest to you where there are a number of pots.

I  had dozed off while watching the met game, and Capt Carl's yelling woke me up. cfzd so I went to the head to relax and re-read the article that Dave refers to.. in the june issue of NJ angler..titled  "Metro Mahi" by capt Gene Quigley.  he writes: "  The plan was to net enough peanut bunker to last the entire day, then take the 14 mile ride out to the west side of the Mudhole to bunny hop the hundreds of lobster pots that string along the edge of the Mudhole's western slope"...  So Capt Carl nailed it on the head.. TT^  Dave,  you would be well served to pick up a good chart like the #6 Mudhole chart from Homeport charts.. Now if Capt Carl would be kind enough to keep it down, I'm goin back to sleep  chrz

yeah those trips are fun....gotta be a real nice day for production tho....water like glass is key(like we ever have that)....lots of live killies and peanuts if possible....troll little jets and feathers and i make my own inshore daisy chains with three 3 inch squid skirts followed by a 4-5 inch stinger squid in a different color pattern than the 3 teaser squids. the stinger squid has a small egg sinker in the head for a little weight.  fun day tho.....burn some fuel, but nice tasty days!
