7/8 NJSWF Fluke and 7/8 Stripers
« on: July 09, 2009, 08:38:58 AM »
Had another double duty today....first up was the donated raffle trip for the NJSWF annual party and we had Eng5LT (Chris) along with Jason, Vinny and the world famous Bucktail Bob on board.Ran 11 miles to the S.H.Reef to start out in a stiff north wind and a cruising outgoing tide. The guys started fishing and it was almost impossible to hold bottom with 8 ounces and 30lb braid...i'm thinkin this is gonna be a rough day here.We gave it our best there for an hour and a half and picked 1 keeper and a few shorts along with a few small sea bass. Decided to move back north and hit a bunker pod on the way but there was no activity underneath.Continued north and went inside only to find no wind and no tide. Decided to power drift (couldn't believe no one else was doing it)and at least we started to catch fish again....Headed for the barn at 2:40 with 2 keepers and some sunburn.Had a great time with the guys and would love to have them onboard again!
PART 2....Dropped off the fellas, scrubbed the boat and picked up the evening trip for Stripers. Dave Shepelsky and sons headed out in flat calm seas and anchored on our lucky spot.Cracked some clams and it was game on with those huge Raritan Bay Makos (huge doggies) and then the bass showed up for about an hour we had a solid pull of bass at the boat....unfortunately all short (but very fat)but its nice to see those stripes no matter what the size! The guys had a blast and so did we!...headed for the barn at 8:30

Nice job Capt!  Thanks again for donating the Charter to NJSWF.  Great crew onboard.  Too bad it was tough fishing for them :-\.  Either way a good day out fishing, though.

Nice to hear a pull of some stripes, even though they are short.

Thank you again for the trip Capt. Carl.
Everyone had a great time and commented on how nice of a boat you have there.
It may have been "slow" fishing, but we did come catching I had a great time, as did everyone.  You and Boo Boo gave it your all for us.
Thanks  t^

That first picture was Bucktail trying to see how much Gulp he could possibly rig onto one rod.
