Had the Michael Pogirski charter out for the 2nd time this season on saturday morning fluke trip.Headed out in nice seas and headed to the knoll where we had fish the day before....did a few drifts but not as productive...tried alot of spots with minimal results....boats all over for the fluke tourney and then that beautiful south wind came knocking....just as i'm calling it a day,i notice my stbd voltage gauge is low and engine hot....check the water pump belt...broke....put my spare on....too loose and not spinning h2o pump enough to cool it down....headed into 3 footers and the wind on one engine from the reach to the shrewsbury. 5 minute fix at dock and good to go!
Sunday had La Famiglia on board as all my cousins shot up for the day from philly....better conditions but not better fishing on the keeper end of it but we had fish on all day and tried a few spots to get on a batch of keeper fish but it wasnt meant to be....these are the times when a captain really doubts himself and i hope to shake it soon. Had an awesome bait ball under the boat today and im guessing rainfish as there was no surface activity or any bluefish below us.
