Bluefishing newbie
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:37:48 PM »
I haven't had much luck fluking lately.  Mostly shorts and very few keepers... a nice seabass yesterday.  I thought I would break up the boredom next week with some day bluefishing jigging.
The only problem is I don't know where to go.  I am going out of Belmar. Do I need to go 13 miles out or can I find something closer.

Just find some birds working a bunker school and you should find some blues. the only problem is that i think all the big ones are out spawning.

You may be right I found a lot of bunker yesterday but no blues, I thought I was doing something wrong.

When they get back can I anchor and try chumming.

Wait a couple of weeks before you go, the blue fishing has been slow right now. Boats are searching all over for them. The Golden Eagle & Miss Belmar Princess  was all the way up in raritan bay looking for blues yesterday.

Had acres of bunkers around us Sunday near the Rocks and not a Blue/Bass to be found......

Bluefish are like cops, when you really want one you can never find one, when you don't they are all over you ;D slt
