Raritan Bay Fluking 7/27
« on: July 27, 2009, 05:42:58 PM »
woke up this morning to see what the weather was going to be before making the call to go fishing.so called fishing buddies John and Dave that it's on.getting a little bit of a late start, it was after 8 before we wet our lines, started fishing area around South Amboy sand barges, picking fish just about every drift, but only 1 keeper an 18 incher caught by Dave.while here recieved a shout from Eddie (Hunter 2)on 68 that he was in the triangle area and had a slow pick going.gradually worked our way to the lighthouse and recieved another shout from Eddie that he had a fat fish over 23 inches that went about 6 lbs.moved up to the E can .I was able to get a 18 incher and a 19 incher.the 19 incher took the trailing  teaser from a 6 oz jig that had a smelt and squid strip on,the  buck tail jig had a bluefish strip on.John caught a nice 21 incher a little further up near where Eddie caught his big one,it was taken on a smelt with a squid strip.that pretty much was it for the keepers, moved around the triangle area, and then back by the sand barges and tried by the train bridge for awhile,it was a beautiful day out there today, wasn't really expecting to much after the heavy rainfall last night, the river was dirty in the morning when we came out,but suprisingly the bay was pretty clean.so 4 in the box to 21 inches and around 2:30 headed in,will try again wednesday or thursday.      Kez

John's son still in rehab,he has a long way to go,basically get's around by wheelchair, but John wants them to only offer him the walker to force him to walk, his mind is all over with different time frames, everything just has to come together,I will tell John that his son is in your prayers,it's very tiring and wearing on John,he's there every day,he was glad he got out, relaxed and caught some fish.thanks again AJ for your thoughts.   Kez

Way to go Kez.  Glad to hear there are still some fish back there.  I haven't been out for a while due to my son having pneumonia, but he's almost better and we will be back out soon.  The last time I fished the back they were hotter on the spearing than anything else.
Good Luck
