FB 7/25
« on: July 26, 2009, 08:44:35 PM »
Our potential crew of 4 came down to Dave and I at the dock in Keansburg for another crack at the Flukes.. I was running a few minutes late due to a dead battery in my van at 0430, so by the time I got to the boat at 6:40 , Dave had the livewell full of nice P-nuts.. TT^  Ran straight out to SH reef.. I Set up our first drift anxious to try out the new fluke stick I just finished..We were greeted with a listless drift and few bites.. After a couple short seabass & fluke, I managed  to box a keeper seabass.. We hopped around the reef for a while with little succes for a couple of hours, and when the south wind started to pick up I finally got a nice knock on my jig, and was able to properly break in the new rod with a 19" fluke.. Unfortunately, that was to be the highlight of the day.. :P  we never could ge it going on the reef, and bounced around to the rocks, out near the rattlesnake, and worked our way back towards the bay only picking at a few short fluke and c-bass, despite offering a veratable bait buffet of calamari, spearing, peruvians and  live peanuts..Dave and I each managed to add couple more keeper seabiscuits to the larder before the promised south wind picked up in the afternoon.. By then, we'd had enough, so called it a day about 3.. Definatly a tough day for the Fluka Brasi team.. But despite the lackluster fishing, I did get to break in my new rod, and as usual Dave and I had plenty of laughs..   chrz

Always good to get out Mark. I had the same kind of day. No drift...too much drift when we finally got it.  :P

Get em next time.  t^
