Fluke Bait
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:35:45 PM »
Going to head out with a variety of bait fluke fishing. Any suggestions to add to the list to try out?
_Spearing
_Smelts
_Killies
_Sand Eels
_Peanut Bunker (If I can net some in Point, any suggestions?)
_Gulp
_Finger Mullet
_Squid strips

Now for the gulp can I use this while dragging bait and should i add anything else or use only when bucktailing? Like can i put on a swimming mullet and a spearing or just the gulp?

Any suggestions Thanks ahead of time!
Kenny

Bunker or Blue Fish strips t^

We have been using the Gulp with a spinner or Spinner/Bucktail skirt and adding a stinger hook with a spearing or smelt......work it like a Bucktail......killer combo TT^

If you get any dog fish cut it for bait. Great fluke bait and you won't find a bait that stays on the hook longer that shark belly.

fillet the bunker and then cut it into strips with the skin on the back end.
or
cut the entire back off, from head to talk and strip that..

Gonna give it all a shot, will let you guys know what worked best for me.
Has anybody gave sardines a shot? Some may be a little big but big bait = big fish

Also anybody ever hear of joaquinzinhos. They are from portugal and are an elegant dish but these things looked like awesome fluke bait. Picked up about a lb of them and gona give em a shot. Only problem is only place i ever saw them was up in Bergen County

Thanks again guys

Mackeral strips if you can get them fresh in a seafood store fillet them cut into pennant shapped strips like squid salt them with kosher salt and add bunker oil. Also searobbin strips and butter fish make great fluke baits.
