Pilot - Fluke 7/30
« on: July 30, 2009, 09:12:10 PM »
Took a pass on fishing yesterday to change out the uniden. Thing froze up, but it was channel 68.  Also put on a new whip antenna.  Couple of hours running coax through the chases into the cuddy and back through the dash.  Radio check and I'm talking to a capt in the Fire Island inlet.   Life is good again.

Got a late jump out there this AM with my buddy Skunk.  He had to make the run to hall to see if there was work.  Number 38 on the roster and short jobs 2-3 weeks.  Hopefully, we get stimulied real soon Mr President thud

So... we make some bait. The incoming brought in some nasty water in the shallows of the shrewsbury and the bait disappeared just as quick as they were there.   rgmn  Good thing I had left over salted Pnutz from the Tastee trip, plenty of squid.  Skunk insisted on buying (ugh) some killies.  So we've got the goods.

I was in a New York frame of mind and thought it was time to check out the Bay ridge flat.  Skunk's never been up under the Veranzano and the day was real nice for a little cruise up near lady liberty.  We hit a couple of marks that I've plotted before and there were fish there but all about a third the size of NY keep.  We stayed for 5-6 decent drifts but only produced rats.  No sense stayin here.... Off to the promised land.

At about 1:45, we're on the mark and it is drop and reel.  6oz is holding excellent.  There is none stop action till 3:30 when the bite turned to a pick.  Killies, Pnutz producing equally.  Ended up putting 4 in the box and called it a day.  Largest fish 20" others close.  One right on the line.

Till next time.
