6-5 Manasquan Fluking
« on: August 06, 2009, 05:07:16 PM »
Broke the inlet around 1:30pm, headed to the AC reef where I was told was productive. Had a few nibbles, small seabass, used 3 and 4 oz spros tipped with a combo of gulp, smelts, squid. Tried this area for an hour, decided to move to the SG reef. worked the reef, nothing doing. Moved north to the RB church, gor a small fluke, lost sever rigs, came in around 5:30pm with 2 guys and nothing to show for it. Not sure if the AM was better- please let me know. I was surprised as to the lack of boats anywhere yesterday afternoon. How's squid head area been doing? I think I hit the major 3 area yesterday, foung the afternoon fluking to be fairly pathetic. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Dan. PS- fished between 50-75 ft water in the red brick area- the actual hump and just east of it are so brutal with lost rigs..must have lost 50.00$ worth of weighted bucktials and fluke rigs...Great dinner after at Harpoon Willy's in Brielle.

I fished the area I call 'squid head' (about 3 miles offshore of the red church). It had been slow but the past two trips have been an improvement there. Been getting our share of keepers and a lot of shorts. Some nice seabass have been coming out of there also.  t^

Good try, A couple of days ago I left s/g reef to head south to brick beach (Thunderbird) in 75' of water and had a catch of 6 fluke to 21 inches. Keep jumping around and you will find them, right now it's tough out there.

I've also been fishing the Red Church area. Its been fairly consistent with fluke and seabass on the wknds in the morning. Also have been offshore of that and got less fish, but bigger ones. Good luck!
