Pulled out of the inlet around 9:30 and was planning on hitting the deep water east of the inlet but with the heavy chop on the water opted to head north to Asbury. Had 3 of us on board me, the Wife and Brother in law Cal. Staying clear of the fleet as I was taught by one of our own well respected captains I made our first drift just North and inside of the fleet in 45 of water. It was a bit to rocky for the wife she headed for the bunk while Cal and I was rewarded with a lot of hook ups. Cal is a die hard bucktailer was having plenty of hook ups with shorts and managed a keeper. I was useing my favorite bait of a nice big Squid head
and slammed 3 keepers in the box from this area, I swear the Party boat Ocean Explorer was glassing me because it wasn't long before he made a move into my same drift and along came his followers. I made a call to Capt. Joe on the Irish Ayes who was fishing Deep water to see how he was doing and with the drift coming to a end. We made a move to some deeper water off of Asbury and planning to head to the grounds where I wanted to start the day. We made few stops along the way and would manage a couple shorts and a keeper along the way. I guess it was just my day fiahing the big baits and had 5 keepers in the box the biggest going 3 and a half pounds and Cal had 1 keeper. It felt good to come home with some fillets for the freezer
