chumming tip
« on: February 16, 2007, 11:58:12 PM »
if youre anchored andusing bunker for stripers take a few small brown paper bags, couple stones and some string.

take some small and i mean small pieces of bunker and put them in a paper bag with a couple rocks in it tie the top with the string

not start tossing some tiny bunker pieces out and they will float away as they sink creating a chum line for you.

take a bag or 2 and lower it when it reaches the bottom let it sit a few seconds and then jerk the string a bit, the bottom of the bag will rip open leaving the small bunker pieces right by your boat keeping the stripers near you,  pull up the string and ripped bag and put it with your garbage

every half hour or so repeat process and the fish should stay there untill youre done catching your limit

Hi All,

OK - I'll confess an old trick that many of us use.

When you are chumming dead bait (i.e. pieces of butterfish, bunker, etc.), I throw them one piece at a time every 20 seconds. But, when they hit the water, spray the heck out of them with your raw water hose (if you have one). It causes a ton of surface activity and can be the difference between getting a bite and getting no bite.

It works,
