IBSP 8-6-09
« on: August 06, 2009, 05:02:19 PM »
There's signs of life in the park again.
I went out when the rain stopped around low tide this afternoon.  Started at the inlet and work north.  LOTS of bait in the inlet.  Lot of bird activity from the pocket north around A10.
Saw several spots with what looked like small blues busting out and birds all over it.  Throw everything at them...got nothing.  :-\
Since it was low tide and the water was way out, I got to scope out some nice holes and cuts.
Planning to get out tomorrow for high tide in the AM.

Nice nice to know. I will have to get out soon..

Eng, when you say the Inlet you mean all the way south in IBSP? How do you get there without a 4x4? Or can you walk it? lol I am sure its far.

Steve

Yes the Barneget Inlet is the southern most point of IBSP.  The only access is traveling south on the beach, either by foot or 4x4.  The paved road ends at A23, which is the last access for foot traffic and 4x4.  I believe it's about 1 mile from A23 to the inlet.

TRSteve,

You can walk it.  It seems like a lot further than it is...just remember a mile down and a mile back ;D!  You will want to stay along the packed sand along the high tide line.  That soft beach sand makes for some really good exercise.  I have walked it several times, plugging or bucktailing along the way.  Makes the walk go by quickly.

Good Luck tomorrow Eng5Lt!  Catch 'em up.

Don't forget to bring a drag rope with you so you can pull that monster bass back with you. Easier to drag it either on the hard stuff or in the water than carry it over your shoulder for a mile.  TT^

Good luck Chris, it sounds like this weather has brought out the yellow eyed daemons back into the beach.  That's great news.  Now all I have to do is find the time to get out... :P
