Not to be blunt, but go to the places you feel more comfortable with.  In other words your home turf.  You said you fish Point Pleasant well go there and use your favorite bait of choice.

You can't single out any one species right now off the surf so don't try.    You need more experience.  My suggestion is just to have fun and learn in the process.  Keep notes either in a log or in your head.

Go to your local bait & tackle shop in your area and they should be able to help you out as well as set you up for the conditions at hand.

Fishing isn't an exact science it is not like being able to set your sites, fire and hit the target.  Especially off the surf.
