8- 14 Sea Girt Reef Fluking
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:15:48 AM »
Left Manasquan Inlet at 1pm, headed right to the SG Reef to try some new rigs someone showed me. Basically 2 hooks set in tandem, approx 6 inches apart, about 30 inches long, with a 6-8 inch leader with weight snap. Used a whole squid, 6oz weight and worked the tug boat wreck for several hours. My Dad and I got several short sea bass, 3 keeper bass, 1 short fluke, then a 27 inch 6.5 pounder that totally made my day. The whole squid seemed to provide alot of action, then about 4pm, the wind changed to a south wind and the bite tapered off. Headed back, hit dock at 6. Anu of you guys know where to get really big frozen squid? Any help would be appeciated.
