Tire deflation
« on: August 21, 2009, 11:39:50 AM »
Wondering what method all you beach buggy drivers use for airing down before entering the sand......
I've seen some different products out there that will deflate you down to a certain pressure and stop.
I'm just looking for a better way than the pencil gauge.   rgmn

I can't bring myself to drop the $60 bucks on those deflators.
I made a set of the binder clip deflators.  Drill a hole in the back of the binder clip and run a screw in.  Clip it onto the valve stem so the screw depresses the valve.  It's not automatic, but it's free and better then bending down there at each tire.  By the time I get the last one on, the first one is at just about the pressure I want.

I use the Staun tire deflators yeah they are expensive but I am on the beach in a hurry and all the tires are the same 15lbs, plus with my hips it is hard for me to get down that far so I needed something to help.

They are make of brass and will not scratch up as easily as the aluminum ones and if they get sand in them they come apart very easily for cleaning.  The adjustment is much easier as well.

I have used them for yuears now and there are 4 to the set so you can screw them on and usually by the time I finish with the last one it is time to take the first one off and I am on my way, pretty cool product.

Thanks Paul.  Those are the deflators I saw.  I like the fact that you can just screw them on and not worry about going too low with the pressure.  I need a new reel at the moment, but these might have to go on the "beg the wife" list, right underneath.  t^

If she likes to go out with you as my wife does make sure she helps you with the chore of deflating the tires.  After a while give a hint about the deflators and see if she jumps at the idea mine did... chrz

No, I mean for you persuading her to allow you to get the deflators...

She hates doing it.  She actually asked....."Isn't there any easier way?"  I said yes, and told her about them.  She replies, "Why is it that we don't have them?"

If I splurge and get them, my new reel will be out of the question.   :'(
