Fuel Filter location

 Would like to reposition my fuel filter for easier access. Can it be mounted on the outside somewhere?  grtn

If you are referring to the water/fuel separator, mine is mounted on the outside. I have no problem with it being there. I have the stainless steel one, not the painted one. The painted one will rust over time.

If I remember correctly, the only laws pertaining to the filter is: it can not be in an enclosed area with an inboard motor. I am almost certain about this, but not 100%.

I see many mounted on the outside, mine being one of them since 02. The stainless ones are a much better grade and do not oxidize and corrode as they get old. They can be mounted inside the engine compartment with Inboards but it cannot have a plastic bowl. Matt.
