Shark River Inlet
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:32:04 PM »
Hello Fisherman.  Just bought a center console this spring, kind of new to the saltwater boating world and have been fishing out of the shark river inlet.  Been staying close to the inlet, getting comfortable with the boat. Ready to stretch her legs for some new fishing grounds, looking for areas within an hour boat ride from the inlet that hold blues and striper's come this fall.  Would love to hear any suggestions.

I too am out of Shark River. I will be away until the 22nd. After that you will probably find me on the ocean chasing after something or another.

I monitor channels 10 and 16 on the VHF. My cell # is in the contact list. Give me a shout when you are out there.  t^

I'm out of Shark River also. With in an Hours ride you get hit most all the legendary spots, and we all do that when a lot of good fishing is just outside of our inlet. This time of year when all the bait fish starts pouring out of the inlet holds some of the hottest fishing. If you have been in the back bay in the last couple of weeks I'm sure you have seen the large schools of peanut bunker with snapper and cocktail blues chasing them. This is all going to transfer to the beach fronts and is a amazing site to see let alone to fish. Good luck and stay safe.

Don't overlook the Sea Girt Reef for most anything.  Short ride out of the inlet.

I'm out of manasquan inlet, roughly 6-7 miles south of SRI.  The Shrewsbury rocks are the #1 spot for just about everything in the area.  you can get there in 20-25 minutes if it's glassy but usually 30-40 is more realistic.  Aslo, theres afew spots right around sandy hook that you could reach without a problem.

Just finishing up my first year at SRI. You've gotten great info so far, as they are all great spots. Also many other smaller spots too numerous to mention. You can almost get dizzy looking at the chart trying to figure out which spot to fish first, and you can get to them all in under an hour.
