Standard Horizon CP1000 GPS/FF?
« on: June 05, 2007, 03:45:16 PM »
Anyoen have this setup?

Since I got hosed on the GPS/FF on my new boat, I figured I would now buy what I want.
Was originally looking at 5" screens- too small. Then 7" screens and ordered a Lowrance LCX-28c HD, but the place was backordered and I need to have in my hands ASAP so I can drop transducer off to marina so they can pull boat and install next week (can't go for long without gps or FF). Well, The broken One had turned me on to the Cp1000 setup. 10.4" display, even DVD & video cam comopatible. Changed my order to this (for $300 more). Thing looks sweet and I have read some good things about it.

Anyone have any experience with one?

I am sure this wil take up a good chunk of real estate on my Sea Boss 210cc :)

Here is pic from someone else's install, then pic of my console. I will be moving radio to center and have the Cp1000 off to the right side of console slightly angled towards captain (that would be me :)

 What do you guys think?

Am I crazy? Hehehe

Mboy,
That sounds like a large screen for the boat.  It looks like if you are standing/leaning on the post while running the boat it will be ok.  However, if you are sitting at the helm, will it interfere with your vision?  Perhaps cut out a piece of cardboard the size of the unit, tape/hold it where the unit will be, and see if it interferes with your vision or anything else.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

It will be off to the extreme right side (where white radio bracket is now-maybe even more to the right. I mean right up to the edge.

That, I should be ok withwhen seated.  It is 13.7 wide at it's widest. (.1 in height.

I am TERRIBLY near sighted and can not see my father;s 7" Lowrance screen very well when near transom of his boat.

I imagine I should be able to see this sucker, lol.

Plus, my kid can watch a DVD connected to it when he gets bored, lol.
