Hit the beach with my mentor.
« on: October 06, 2009, 02:20:28 PM »
I finally got my Uncle out and onto the sand in my neck of the woods.  Wew hit the beach before sunrise and as we crested the slight rise I saw how flat the water was and I said this does not look good.  I was more like a pond as I think a lake has bigger waves.  There were birds all over the place even Pelicans diving like crazy.  We tried to follow them around as they were diviong on mullet closer to the shore line which made it easy to cast.

Did I tell you there were tons of bait all over the place?  Well no luck with the birds.  There were schools all over the place but nothing hitting them.  We tried Mullet, clams, Gulp sand worms, swimming mullet, AVA's with teasers, bottle poppers, you name it we threw it.  N A D A... 5hrug

By this time we met up with EngLt. (Chris) and we all went down the beach looking for a hit.  I knew it was going to be bad as soon as I saw the water.  Did I tell you there was bait all over the place?

We left Chris as he wanted to try up by the bathing beaches and I figured we would go south to the North Jetty and see what is happening down there.  Nothing but sunshine as one of the regulars called it.  So we drifted north and I notices a boat stopped with a gentleman on the bow with a nice bend in the rod fighting something.  I broke out the binoculars and watched him haul in what looked like a nice 30+ striper plus another one broke the surface just off the bow again.

Well by the time I stopped and watched this guy there must of been 8 to 10n veh pulled up and started plugging.  It was funny to watch as these guys threw everything plus the kitchen sink and again NADS.  Oh did I tell you there were tons of bait in the wash?

Oh well, we rode up the beach and we found Chris on the bathing beach with not a single bite either.  We decided to call it quits and headded off the beach.  Maybe next week Uncle Joe.  Now I got him hooked he is fnny just like a little kid.  It was great... TT^

I might go out Thursday if the wind is not to bad.  We'll see.

Happy Catching

Paul

Like Paul said, not a single tap.  And tons of bait.  Standing knee deep in the water there was bait swimming around my legs.

But it was a nice day out with good company.

I have a couple pics I'll put up later.

Nice report.  At least you got out.  On days like that, with a ton of bait in the water, there's always the hope it's going to bust wide open! t^

Nice outing guys!  Too bad the fish weren't there for you.  I was in the Park yesterday with the kids...we walked A7 and they played on the beach.

...AND there was TONS of bait all over the place, but no fish either.  Inlet was the same way...bait all over the place, but no fish on them.  What's up with that??

I talked to another regular out there and he said that they were finding blues in all the right places that we were but at the wrong time.  Our timing was slightly off.  What can I say.  We will be out there next week so get ready for plan # 2.  I think I got hom hooked...hehehe

I got out for a while here in Brigantine, and It was like a lake here as well, but it felt good to get the lines wet none-the-less. Watched as the Sun set on the Beach and the moon rose over the ocean. For a few minutes it was hard to tell which was which, both shinin a bright harvest Orange. Not a bite in the two hours I put in   5hrug Hey, still beats the hell outta workin!
