Went out on 10/11 with my brother in law off Mantoloking - some rock piles. We caught keeper sea bass, blackfish, and porgys. Day started slow - tried some trolling - nothing. We both thought the day was gonna turn out bad - then the action started around 9 and we had a great day on the water. The water was very clear - at one spot north of Manasquan inlet I watched as a fluke followed my bait about 5-6 feet down - I did a double take thinking-I dont feel anything on my line?...I reeled up and threw it right back in and he took the bait---17 1/2 and FAT! But alas - season is closed and he would have been 1/2 short anyway! Brought home a bucket of fish and the family was fed and we had leftovers! We also caught sea robin, skate, and what I think were bergalls...it is always fun waiting to see what is on the end of the line!
