Looking to buy a bigger rod!

I think one of my biggest downfalls when I go surf fishing is my pole is not long enough to get above the waves (forget the word someone used).

Can anyone suggest a good decent priced 9-10 foot rod?


Mostly going to throw bait not plugs or plastic.

I think you're referring to what Rod calls highbtobgwtbip!

If you are throwing bait...I would go longer than 10 feet only because not too many 10 footers can handle the heavier weights!  You definitely have to be able to get over the highbtobgwtbip .

The Airwave Bucktail has is a nice rod...comfy grips, lightweight, solid rod.  The Ticas are nice and fairly priced as well.

Ive got a tica (9ft) and i cant complain. Its kind of a hog, not for small lures, but for chucking bait and big pencil poppers and such i like it.

what do you find to be the main difference in a 9' versus a 10' rod for plugging?

do you feel that you get a better cast from the longer rod.  i mean i know casting is more technique than just rod length, but do you see a difference.  at this time i have a 9' tsunami airwave, which i like, but its rated 1-3oz and of course i am having trouble throwing smaller plugs such as bombers, which arent that cast friendly.  i was looking into a higher end rod rated for somewhere around 1/2 or 5/8 to 2 1/2 oz.  any recomendations?
