bewared soft sand...
« on: October 22, 2009, 01:11:02 PM »
Hi All,

Well we ventured out this morning before sun up and started at the pocket.  Water was looking good and there were Pelicans working.  All we could muster were 1 skate and 1 Dog.  Sae a striper caught and released 1/4 inch to small.  A number of blues were being beached but that was about it.

If you decide to go out AIR DOWN!!!  The sand is wet and the tracks are deep and soft.  I will warn you now if you are not a seasoned driver KEEP OFF THE SAND!!!

The beach is very soft from A18 north to A7.  High tide there is no beach left at A18 & A17.  It will take at least a week to get the sand back onto the beach.  The high water mark in these places and are scarfed up into the dunes.  Again if you are not a seasoned beach driver please don't even try it till next week.  And no, I did not get stuck.

Plus another bit of info to show just how much sand was lost remember that whale that washed up during the summer and was buried, well the carcass is mow visible.  If you are looking for whale bones I know a good place for you to look.  I have to warn you it does smell a but.

Other than the sun rise was spectacular and the beach was crowded.  It looked like a weekend.   nosmly

Happy Catching

Paul

As Paul said, there is not much room to drive or park at high tide.  The sand is soft, full of deep ruts and torn up from everyone driving on it.  There's very little action at there, so the risk is not worth the benefit.

Thanks to Paul's Towing and Recovery Services, Inc. we all made it home in one piece.
Paul, I owe you a couple cold Sam Adams  chrz  Thanks again.
And thank you as well to the other guys that stopped to offer a hand.

Whale is 50-100 yards north of A18.  Less and less of it left each day.  And lots of people leaving the park with new wall decor  nts

That's okay Chris, I am sure you would of done the same.  I have not seen it that bad in a long time.  It always amazes me that there are so many idiots that have drivers licenses.  I think most of them were out there today, especially that guy with the duel wheel puck up.  nts nosmly

Oh well we all got home safe.  I can't believe how much sand I washed off from my under carriage.   :P

I could go for an SA, I think I will break one open later... chrz or 2  chrz
