Nov 09 Noreaster storm damage
« on: November 14, 2009, 02:47:20 PM »
Took a ride down to the beach this morning to check out the storm damage.  I wish I could have gotten there yesterday to see it in action.
These pic were all just past low today today Nov. 14

1.  What's left of the Surf Club.  Significant damage
2. The streets in SSP.  Yes that's all sand.  The boardwalk is like that too.
3. Ortley Beach stairs from the boardwalk to the beach.  I'm 6'4 and I couldn't reach that bottom step.
4. Ortley Beach  Thae dunes usually come all the way out to the end of those stairs.
5. The surf in SSP
6. Ortley

A few more

1 & 2. SSP Surf
3. Ortley.  Notice the height of the snow fence attached to the stairs.  The sand usually at that height.
4. Ortley dunes.  Probably 25-30 foot of dunes missing.

I didn't get pictures, but the SSH boardwalk and beach was more of a mess than a Saturday evening in August. :P

WOW is right,

Took a curiosity ride today myself with my 6 year old son Brian. This pic was taken on brick beach at my cousins beach house across from used to b's,

Had a hell of a time getting back off the beach, down was easy

I have to say that the state on New Jersey is about 30 yards shorter than it was earlier in the week.

It's amazing how much sand can be moved in such a short time by a storm like that.

Went up to take a look at the Manasquan inlet on the point pleasant side, sand eels all washed up past the bulkhead!

Then we saw some guy in a 24' CC ride out maybe a mile or so past the bell buoy... nts Turn around and had one hell of a ride back in...

Cool day to just putts around, Brian got a kick out of the size of the waves, took him out to the end of the inlet jetty....was cool to hear the power of the waves............

I didn't walk up that part of the boardwalk, but I saw pics elsewhere of sand up almost to the roof of the Seaside fishing pier shop.
Maybe CatfishHunter knows if the shop faired OK??
