As to how many of you keep a fishing log. such things as weather, time of day, lure or bait used.
species caught, water temp, ect.

I even add photos to mine. I've been doing mine for years and it's amazing how the same things appear about the same time each year.
Good things come to those who bait

Builds and repairs rods if needed

Yep...I actually keep 2. One is a quick one liner and the other is more detailed.

Never had kept one always went on whenever I can be out there.  If I were a professional I guess I would.  Since I am not it is just a sport to me that I love and it I had to keep paper work it woulds not be fun for me.  Thats just me.

I keep a log. Been very lax on it this year though.

Paul, a log tells you more than when you should fish. It tells you what the conditions were when you caught or did not catch. If you keep a good log you can predict what area the fish SHOULD be in for the current conditions. Knowing a spot will not produce in a south wind is good to know. You log may also tell you where you should fish as much as when.  t^

As being the Mr. Mon for almost 20 years now I have no time to keep a log as i fish whenever I can get the chance.  Like I said it is useless for me as I am an opportunistic fisherman some times I get out 2 to even 4 times a week some weeks I do not get out at all.  So if a log tells me that this week was a good week and I have no window of opportunity what good would it do me?

A log would be just another thing that I would have to remember to do and trying to keep up with house schedules is bad enough.  Maybe when my obligation's are over I might keep one but like I said for now my life is to hectic to even think about keeping a log would prove to be fruitless.

I do alright I guess after fishing all these years it comes by instinct just like my dog.  He knows when it is time to go hunting by the changes in the season.

Don't get me wrong you guys that keep a log and swear by them are into fish a lot more than I am and that is a good thing but I simply can not be bothered by writing down every time I go out to wright about it.  That's me.

Happy Catching

Paul
