Seaside area 11 3 09
« on: November 03, 2009, 02:23:15 PM »
Fished SSP this morning starting right around high tide.  Managed 2 shorts and one good run off, on clams.  Saw and heard of just a couple other shorts on clams.  Guys fishing artificial weren't doing much.
Moved to Ortley for the second half of outgoing.  Not a tap in 2 hours.  Saw several shorts landed on metals in that area.

Even with the west wind, still 8oz+ to hold.  The water looks flat 1/4 mile out, but it's pounding hard from the outer bar to the dunes.  6-8ft swells over the outer bar.
Bird action was minimal and way off shore.

At high tide this morning the water was up the stairs at Ortely and only 20-30 feet off the dunes in SSP.  IBSP was closed at high tide.  The roads along the bayside in SSP were flooded good and the water was up on the local piers.

Good try Chris.  I am hoping that things calm down by Thursday that is when my Uncle and his grandson will be coming down to go out.  We'll see.

It was nice out there today.  I just realized it was so sunny I got some sunburn on my face.

I'm definitely happy with my fall season.  Got my first striper (a big one no less), a few others and learned a great amount about the art of fishing.

Don't sweat it Jason.  The first half of the morning was  TT^ but the second half was  rgmn.  I soaked clams....real food, in a hole for an hour...15 minutes later a guys with a piece of metal catches a fish standing right where I stood 15 minutes earlier.  Stupid fish  nts

I hit SSP near the Sawmill with 2 buddies.  Not a tap.  Soaked a few dozen with 6oz working back up to 8 as the tide came back in.
