picked up some eels and clams this morning, but unable to get fresh clams,so settled for the frozen ones, out of Sayreville on friend Kens boat around 8.his plan for the day was to try a little striper fishing in the bay and move off the hook and bottom fish on some of his previous hot spots.made the first stop in the vicinity of the 11A and drifting live eels,we each had a run off but no hookups,Ken didn't commit and stay here,he had his mind set to bottom fish,so we head off shore some to try his hot spots.hit a bunch of spots, for the most part I told him he put us on his hottest dog fish bites, best day I ever had catching them.we did manage a few porgies and some keeper seabass.we sort of blamed some of it on the clams because they were really bad.to bad he couldn't get any crabs,he tried yesterday afternoon at low tide at the Highlands to pick some out of the mud,but tide wasn't low enough when he got there.we gave up when all that we were hauling were the dogfish.tried some trolling on the way in and also tried the eels in the rip and nothing.also a couple quick drops on the way in with the same results.wish he would have spent more time at first committing to the stripers.
