Had Ralph, Ron and Dennis on the boat today. Had originally planned to do some tog fishing but decided on looking for bass.
After reading ReelNauti's Cock Robin report from yesterday I knew we had to head south out of the inlet (Shark River).
Did just that and found a huge flock of birds working off of Spring Lake. A dozen or so boats were already in the area, including several party boats.
Picked up some nice marks short of the fleet and started jigging Ava's. Hit some nice blue fish and a short bass right off the get-go.
Had short bass and many blue fish through out the day.
Saw Bill from ReelNauti out on the fishing grounds. Spoke to him several time during the day. He called us in to his area several times trying to get us into some keeper bass. We tried our darnest but just couldn't get any for the box. Thanks for the intel today Bill, it was greatly appreciated.
Finished the day with several dozen blue fish up to twelve pounds and six just short bass. Kept four blues for a friend's grill and returned the rest unharmed.
Can't get out again til Thursday. If the weather holds up we will be tog fishing for sure.
