LUNA SEA's First problem.

OK, got the call today from Cody.  Definatly a bad Bilge pump, but also said I have a bad wash down pump.  It was working fine that day, but who the hell knows. The price is over $800.00 to fix both pumps and to change my water separater filter.  OUCH.  and then when there done, I have to gas it up, OUCH AGAIN... 
They also said there a week behind, but I told them to squeeze me in since it is a quick job. 
Lets see what happens...

just curious .. whats was there labor cost.. I got any idea on the other parts but the labor must have been high.. and hey gas is getting cheaper on rt36??

They gave me the price over the phone, when I pick up the boat I will have everything itemized on the receipt. I will let you know the breakdown.

Hi Joey,

The marinas around Toms River get a minimum of $125/hr.

The $800 is mostly labor as a washdown pump is $100; the bilge pump $50; and a new Racor filter is $25.

That bill seems excessive to me ... 5 hrs. labor?

I hope I am wrong but I work on Grady's and the markup, even on parts, is big ...

yeah Ed.. thats my thought exactly.. for that price I would  have done for $700(LOL) These shops just rip you off.. Especially since these are easy fix!

They wanted $500-$600 for water pump and 3weeks..

 wow, that just sounds outrageous. what the hell is involved with getting access to your bilge? i would think it would be easy to get to.

 and also how about warranty on those items?

I just paid 700 to get hauled out, new transducer run, radio vhf rewired and a Standard Horizon GPS and FF520 sounder module installed and I thought that was excessive.
$800 to change 2 pumps and a water filer?

That seems insane to me.

my guess is that for them to get access to the pumps, they are charging me many hours of labor to remove everything that is in the way of the pumps, which includes the water separater, batteries, oil tank, etc.  That is the one problem with newer boats today.
