Do it yourself Plumbers

A buddy of mine has been using a product in is rental properties now for about a year anytime he has a plumbing issue. They are called "Shark Bites", they are a No Sweat fitting. I used them today for the first time replacing my hot water heater. I have been doing rigid pipe work for years sweating pipe. But after using these today I may not go back to sweating pipe. They work with copper pipe or Pex flex tubing. Just press them on and they lock and they are reusable. They are a little more expensive then normal pipe fitting but the ease of use and they are forgiving plus you don't have to worry about burning down the house or your boat.They are available at Home Depot  t^

Just had the water heater replaced with similar ones.  Much easier and faster than sweating them.  TT^

I used one.  I'm not real comfortable with it, especially for the long term.  I only used it because I was even less comfortable trying to sweat pipe where I needed to make the connection.  It's in the crawl space, so in the event of a failure or leak, the damage would be minimal.

 Have used them a few times. Really great for water heater. They come apart easy too.

We use something very similar on truck air systems. Works nice, but have problems with them leaking after a line is removed and reconnected. But then again it would be less work replacing a sweat fitting.

i have used them under the sink and toilet.  great product.  much easier than sweating pipe.  i was concerned with using them at first, figuring there was no way they would hold.  so far, so good.

Hey Rick I have had the same problem with the The ones used for Air, I have used the air fitting being a maintenance mechanic for some 20 years now, I had my doubts because of those same reasons so I let my friend be the Guiny Pig. Don't be afraid of these Rick They Work. TT^
