New Year's Day Blackfishing
« on: January 01, 2010, 06:17:25 PM »
Left the house in freezing rain in hopes it would be better when we got there....and it sure was!
jumped on the Prowler V out of Atlantic Highlands with a few friends and a light crew of maybe 13 people. Flat calm all day long with a N.W, breeze and an outgoing tide. 1st drop in about 55 feet was a slow pick at best but with no wind and slow current, we managed the best we could. 2nd drop in about 68 feet was a little better and it didnt take long for the current to start screaming on the moon tide. more life here and alot of short fish came over the rails but the mid ship stbd side had a honey hole bailing keepers on every cast...everywhere else on the boat was really not producing....way to share the wealth fellas! 3rd drop of the day was 92 feet and i decided to drop for some ling and WHALLA!...sling-a-ling for awhile....i rike ring...u rike ring?...ended the day with 3 keeper blacks and 6 ling. Dont forget the blackfish limit is now 4 fish at 14 inches!!!!!

Happy New Year!
