Block Island cod
« on: February 03, 2010, 12:42:24 PM »
2/2/2010 Codfishing in RI near Block Island was good today in near perfect conditions. Not much early mostly shorts but got things going on the drift in the afternoon and the Captain stayed late so everyone could take advantage. We only kept the good ones and had plenty to take home. Ling and bergalls spiced the catch. Our fish were up to 8# or so and the pool was over 15# by estimate. Canal Chris and Kirk rounded out the Jersey crew. All fish on bait as nobody stayed with the jigs.We fished the Island Current,Snug Harbor,RI

nice catch and pic's.  What boat were you on?  I lived in R.I. for almost 8 years and been on a few of the boats from Point Judith / Gallilee......  The Frances Fleet always ran a good trip (Lady Frances in particular).  My first time on a boat there I went on The Seven B's for a fluke trip.  I was at the very stern of the boat and the capt. never killed the motor, left it idling for the whole trip!  Needless to say, it was the Frances fleet from then on.  Anyway, enjoy those filets.

to mcyc....  I miss it to.  I lived less than 100 yards from Narragansett Bay, my street dead ended at the bay.  Surfcasting whenever I wanted, my little girl picking seashells while I fished.  Digging clams at low tide (pisser's and littlenecks) a block from home.  Made a choice to come back home and be near family! t^  It's hard sometimes knowing the leisures I left behind, but it sure is nice having family around and involved in my kid's lives.  Do miss it tho..... ;)
