" The establishment of new artificial reefs, exclusively for commercial fishing, would provide commercial anglers more opportunities to benefit from the artificial reef sites, and would provide recreational anglers with more opportunities at the State’s existing artificial reef sites."

They have fished the artificial reefs, paid for by us, for years. Now they want their own "exclusively for commercial fishing" reefs? The bill does not state that they will not fish on the existing reef sites, only that we will be prohibited from the new "commercial" reef sites.  nts  <'((((><

I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

The intent is good. The authors of the resolution are not up on who would have to pay for the permit applications, who would hold the permits and supervise the construction and maintenace of the reefs. We are working on educating them.

But they are up on who can(commercial fishermen) and who can't(recreational fishermen) use these proposed "New" reefs.
This is not going to benifit us recreational guys, just cost us more money, and put more gear out there for us to avoid. A "No Win" situation again for the little guy. <'((((><

This is a compromise offered to the commercials to get their traps off our reefs.  We are working on a rewrite to place the task with the appropriate agency.
