Off shore fishing on the Big Jamaica
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:18:39 AM »
Went out with Howard Bogan Jr on the 125 Jamaica, we had a really nice ride out to around 83 mile and anchored up just before the sun cam up.  Right off the bat the cod started biting.  The seas started to pick up as the sun cam up but we shifted around the entire wreck and picked cod on a constant basis.  The wind really stated to howl around 11 and Howard decided not to re anchor as the wind was changing but instead we went about 25 mile in to another wreck.  It was a rough ride that most boats would not be able to make, but the Big Jamaica cut right through it.  As we anchored on the 2nd wreck the wind was dieing down and the fish were chewing. Cod coming over the rail everywhere.  I decided to lift my bait about 15 feet off the bottom and caught the only Pollock on the boat.  There were some nice cod caught, I will post pictures later, and we had a nice ride in.  As always Howard stayed that extra time TT^ so that everyone could go home with a good catch and we hit the dock at 7 PM.
Thanks again Howard for a great trip slt

Nice pictures Greg !

you look like you got a little wind burn , how was the weather out there ?

Gambler had a good report too, hope the cod decide to stay in our area, from now on.
It would be nice !

It was a little windy but not for the Big J.  It looks like the smaller cod are staying here and they have NO worms unlike the ones up north.  I'll keep the money in NJ fishing instead of paying tolls _:" and taking that long ride out to Montauk.  After a long day of fishing I would be lucky to make the drive home thud
