Are you referring to a fuel line on a boat, or a gas line in a home?  Pipe dope for a natural gas line.  For fuel lines I know there is some sort of teflon tape.  Not sure if the tape is one specific for fuel lines.  Someone will chime in.

Please excuse my stupidity for not noticing your post was on the mechanical forum.  rgmn  Looks like there are a few different thread paste type of products that I can see when I googled it.

Whats the name of that hose fitting place on Union ave?? I want to replace my 12' line from the gas tank to the fuel water seperator on my 270 Crusader.  1972 Chris Craft.    It has crimped on threaded ends.

No teflon !!!!! Gas will melt it and it goes into the fuel line. cfzd
Remember to use double s/s clamps on any connections.
