The NJ Department of Environmental Protection has lifted the temporary ban on shellfish harvesting in the waters of Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook Bay, the Navesink River and the Shrewsbury River.  The area was closed on March 17 because of pollution from heavy rainfall .The reopening of these waters was effective Saturday, March 27.

For more information, visit http://www.state.nj.us/dep/newsrel/2010/10_0020.htm on the DEP web site where the official Revocation of Shellfish Bed Closure document is available in PDF format.
