Hey guys,
After a long fish-less winter, I went fishing on the surf this past weekend on Graveling Point in Mystic Islands. This place is touted as a hot spot for early stripers, as is pebble beach which is right down the road.
We baited up at 7 am on Friday at Scott's Bait and Tackle on Radio Road and were fishin by 7:30 am. We fished bloodworms and clams from 7:30 am to 6 pm with not even a nibble. A passerby told us they saw 4-6 shorts caught in the past 20 minutes right up the beach, so we headed over. Got a few nibbles, but no fish for us.
We saw a number of shorts pulled in and 3 keepers which were nice sizes for this early in the season.
I went out to Graveling Point by myself the next day (Saturday) from 1030 am to 130 pm to no avail. It was cold, windy and had no bites so I packed it in.
Even though there were no catches for me, it sure felt good hitting the surf again:)
