Bottom Fishing in Cozumel
« on: March 28, 2010, 12:09:58 PM »
Went cruising the West Caribbean on Carnival. It was a two Island 5 day cruise.  So The Brother In Law and I decided to book a bottom fishing trip in Cozumel Mexico only because we were too late on the sign up for the "Deep Sea' trip which all were booked solid.  Anyway it was only a 3 1/2 hour trip for bottom fishing.  So, After Sucking dowm a whole bunch of Mexican beer and Margaritas for lunch., We left the  dock at 2:30 pm cruised for about a half hour and then got on the boat chrz

There were only 7 people aboard the  40 footer    I suggested a pool for biggest fish. We chipped in 10 bucks each and dropped the lines using 8oz weight.  about 5 min. went by and I snagged a 12in. Banana fish.  There were all kinds of extra rods on board and about two down the line  was one with a steel leader.  Grabbed it and hooked up the banana fish to it and let it swim about 200 ft away from the boat. The bite was off but, we had plenty of beer compliments of the Charter. The brother in law was more interested in kicking back

There was a Honey-Moon couple on board and she caught a small grouper and it looked like she was going to be the pool winner. the wind was blowing from shore about 10 to 12 MPH and would have us in Deep blue bttom less water in no time, So I  let more line out on next set up with the banana fish pole. With about 20 min. left on the fishing day,
In my right ear I hear a BEAUTIFUL sound.
ZZZEZEEEEEEEEE.  and off in the distance this thing breaks water about 2 ft in the air.  The Mate, Hoorehey yells BARRACUDA.  I shout at my brother in law: "Grab the camera, the line's bird nested on the reel and I'm going  to lose this thing, Get a picture if he Jumps again.  The mate ran over and helped me get the line untangled. anyway we got it in and her he is.   A Heel of a day at Sea Sir.

After our  fishing excursion, We took a cab to downtown Cozumel stopped at  Carlos & Charlies bar, were sexually  abused by the waitresses for seven bucks which included 2 shots of tequila and said hello to Fidel and off to the ship We went.  In summary it ended up a drinking trip with a little bit of fishing. chrz chrz
