Cleaner/Polish for Aluminum T-Top
« on: March 22, 2010, 03:09:07 PM »
Guys,

I have some minor water spots on my brushed aluminum t-top tubing. I tried some Mothers brand aluminum mag wheel polish I had in the garage, but it was not aggressive enough. Any suggestions? I do not want to get too crazy with aggressive compounds because the spotting is minor. Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks----LS

Lost sailor.

Why don't you try some high grade jewelry polish. Not the stuff you soak your jewelry in, but the stuff you rub on. It's made for soft metals, so I'm sure it would be fine for aluminum.

Try something called Speedy All Metal Polish. It is the best kept secret on the market today. I used it from my motorcycle to rims on a car and the aluminum frame of my enclosure. It runs about $20 for a quart but well worth it. You can find it at a speed shop or any truck stop. I swear by this product!

oh, by the way

Used to drive tow trucks and flatbeds in the early 90's.  There was a product we used on all the side railings of our flatbeds (aluminum flatbeds) For the life of me I can't recall it, but if I do I'll post it or pm you.   UUGHHH... I can actually picture the container. rgmn

At the advice of jawz, I picked up some of Rupps Alumna Guard----this stuff WORKS!!! And it is easy to apply . Ant it leaves a nice layer of protectant on the aluminum. My top looks like NEW.

This product really works. I am super impressed. There may be better stuff out there, but I will not be looking any further.

Thanks for the great recommendation!!
