Bamber Lake Trip
« on: August 15, 2010, 04:44:53 PM »
Hi

My son is going back to college this week and I wanted to get out fishing with him one more time. We decided to go to Bamber Lake in Manchester because it was close and really, being sunday afternoon in August, I didn't expect much. The weeds were thick which was constantly fouling my trolling motor. We were both using Mann's Augertail worms with 6lb line, and trying to get them into some holes in the weeds.  My son hooked a nice bass about 15 inches. After releasing the fish, we moved about ten foot closer to shore. The wind was pretty stong so I just lifted up the anchor and we drifted. First cast I get a hit and my rod doubles over. Fish jumped once, not really jumped, but splashed, then dove into  the weeds. Thankfully my drag was smooth, but I did think I was going to lose him twice. The first time he would not budge out of the weeds, but finally did and the second time she dove under the boat. Luckily I was able to get my thumb in his mouth. The fish was 24 inched long and I am thinking about 16 inches around. It felt like about 8 lbs! We released the fish to fight another day. I'll post some pictures if someone can let me know how do to it! Here is a link to a facebook page that might work.  http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4918580&id=524715221

Welcome grtn!

Nice outing clp.

I love fishing Bamber Lake.  I fish from shore.  If you can deal with the weeds, there are some decent fish in there.  Kids love catching the pickerel there.
