Tough day 5/7
« on: May 07, 2010, 03:08:05 PM »
Left Keyport at 6:30 and ran all the way to Asbury Park looking for bass.

Made a stop at the point of the hook and got a couple of blues. Ran south and jigged on some good marks off the Highlands Bridge area an got a couple of hits on shads but missed.

There was a huge spread of birds working off Long Branch. We thought we finnaly found them. Huge marks of bait blacking out the fish finder birds diving and wheeling....threw the tackle box at them but could not get a bite. Stayed there for a good while and then continued south. There wasn't much life so turned back north.

Fished with the fleet at the Shrews Rocks for a while and got a couple of blues on avas.

Stopped under birds again at the point of the hook...another few blues.

Ended the day chunking bunker of Keansburg for some.....you guessed it....blues.

Had high hopes today but it seems the bass had lockjaw. Talked to some guys back at the odck who stayed in the bay and did poorly.

Not too bad.  At least you had some bluefish action (and that is half of your name). ;D

I did much worse.  I was at work. :P

I don't turn my nose up at catching big choppers. Heck, I spent many an hour on headboat back n the '80's trying to catch them when stipers were almost unheard of...

But, even they were a little hard to come by today.
