HELP, cant get the key out for changing the water pump out

Anyone have any good ideas how to get the ket out of the shaft so I can finish changing the impropellar and water pump    :-\       rgmn

Wow.  Shouldn't be that Hard..  Do you have to remove it?.. can't you just slide the new impeller  over it?  If not  use something like brass.. softer than the shaft and pry it out t^

Soak it with penetrating oil,let it set awhile then tap it out with a piece of brass or something soft.

I am replacing EVERYTHING, so i need to get it out.  I finally did after pounding the hell out of it.  Only problem I have now is I actidentailly snapped the plastic fitting on the lower unit that attaches the speedometer pitot cable.  rgmn   Making a trip to west marine today to hope to resolve this and am trying to get all the engine work done today fcp.   Hopeing for the best

Sounds like it could be a Yamaha. They could get tough.
