Dolphins at IBSP
« on: June 22, 2007, 02:55:23 PM »
T will post my report on the other thread but I just wanted to mention why the fishing was off today.

There have been a pod or pods of dolphin cruising up and down the shoreline and that spells disaster for fishing in the area.

They are ravenous eaters and everything just scatterers when they are around.  So if you think your meathods aren't working and you think it's you well Flipper out there is the cause of the eratic fishing today. :'(

There were dolphins all over the Dunkin Donuts spot on Wednesday.  I don't know if they affect the fluke or not but we did not have a catch there that day.  Hmmm...

I really think that is the reason for the shut down.  But I did notice small fluke in the suds right up close to the beach line.  They were about 8" long.  Next time I will have to bring my fly rod that would have been fun.

Hi Paul,

Thanks ... they were off Chadwick Beach and Seaside Park yesterday.

All fish will scatter when the dolphin are around.  Fluke are protected more then most because the camo into the bottom, but all the bait fish will disappear and the fluke will stay motionless.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.
