Irish Ayes Stripers- Friday 5-21-2010
« on: May 21, 2010, 06:25:30 PM »
I had the pleasure again of fishing with Joe, Bob g,John,Steve and Tony today on Joes "Irish Ayes". We pulled out of the inlet and head south in search of Bunker. Joe put us on a nice pod and it was game on! t^  We easily snagged a bunch of Bunker on the trebles and dropped some down to the bottom. The striper's started coming over the sides of the boat with screaming reels and a even more runoffs.
The Bunker were stacked thick and so were the fleet of careless boaters chasing after them. Some people just don't get it. 5hrug  We had some kind words for the guys passing near us at 35mph and we still caught fish.  A couple of nice 20lb+ Bass were in the boat when Bob's reel starts peeling out line, and more line, and more line, ;D   After a nice battle Capt.Joe expertly nets the 35lb striper, this time he held on to the nets loop frame and not the mesh netting. The fish was on the boat. cfzd Soon after I pulled in a 30lb.
I saw a few NJSWF guys catching Bass on the Fish Monger near us and also Sykk Physh was filling his box with fish. grtn grtn A commercial Bunker netter was also dragging nets near the fleet.
When things slowed down Joe made a move and put us on a bigger school of Bunker and Bass. The Bass were breaking on top and the Bunker were plentyfull. At one point Bob Caught 5 bunker with one cast of the treble hook, I think he had 2 on the hook and 3 more gilled on his mainline. That was a first. chrz Another rod was singing the drag song and another 35lb bass comes aboard. We kept nine fish for the dinner table today and most of the fish were in the 20lb to 30lb range. The crew was great, lots of laughs and joking around, plus awesome fishing!. It was one of my best days of Striper fishing,  Thankyou very much Joe and friends. TT^
