raritan bay today
« on: May 25, 2010, 04:13:31 PM »
I more or less took a boat ride today. left the marina about 10 am and was back at 1 pm. the area in front of the navy pier was loaded with bunker, the commercial guys were in there netting them, do they have a special permit??? I live lined for about a hour but nothing doing, I trolled some around the bay and nothing doing there either.  I'm giving it another try early in the am tommorrow.

Commercial guys get permits for anything. Don't think they would be that brazin in front of the Navy pier without a permit.

Good try on the bass.

The commercial bunker guys you saw are the ones who supply bait to the B&Ts. There should be a large "B" placard on the boat indicating that. Bunker 'reduction' boats are not allowed in NJ waters.
